Right I felt that this list was an important part of my blog, i have spent my hard earnt day off asking you, yes YOU the great British public , who your favourite comedian is, This also has been influenced by my opinion to bring you the most important comedy list you will ever read. so lets get started then
10. Jack Dee Not many comedians have the same deadpan , quick dry wit as Jack Dee, the comic from London has been on stage for over 20 years. He has recently been on television more with appearances of ‘hae i got news for you’ and starring in his own comedy ‘Lead balloon’
9. Russell Brand The amy winehouse haired motor mouth may be in trouble with the BBC at the moment for his phone call to Manuel , but it has caused his fans to love him even more. He was famously fired from MTV for bringing his drug dealer into wok dressed as Osama Bin Laden on September 12th 2001.
8. Chis Rock Not many comics can sell out the o2 arena in under a day never mind an hour, but thats what Chris Rock managed to do at the start of the year. His comedy style is raw and talks about family relationships in America , one of his most famous sketches is the ‘black people vs Niggas’ which is seen as his most famous routine.
7. Bill Hicks Now for a comedian that if you havent heard of you should be a shamed of yourself, Bill Hicks is an American comic who was famous in the 80′s and 90′s, his brand of stroy telling is sadly missed in the world of comedy. Bill passed away on Febuary 26th 1994.
6. Lee Evans – the Norman Wisdom of the modern era, he simply is a man who everyone has seen and who everyone has giggled at for one thing or another. The slapstick star of stage and film has always made time to do what he in my opnion is best at. stand up and he never lets his fans down.
5. Alan Carr – Now i am personally unsure of his place in the top ten but the public have spoken and he sits at number 5, the big toothed funny man was already famous for co presenting the Friday and Sunay night project on channel 4, but his first stand up tour, the tooth fairy live, sld record tickets and has impressive dvd sales, his style of one liners is classic and to be fair he has become a very funny caricature of himself.
4. Jimmy Carr -Its time for the second Carr in our comedy garage. this time its the more slick ,quick witted and king of the crowd abuser ,its Jimmy Carr. Famous for his one liners he has been the comedian face of channel 4 for years. ’8 out of 10 cats’ , ‘your face or mine’ and ‘distraction’
3. Flights of the conchords- Believe it or not these are the only New Zealanders on our countdown. The comedic singer song writers have had one series of there hit comedy shown over here but thanks to dvd sales and internet views , these guys have taken the country by storm, There will be hard to beat in 2009.
2. Well now into the final two and in second place for me is Frankie Boyle. The scottish genius who leaves no subject out of the reach of his heartless comedy. A regular on ‘mock the week, he is currently on tour across the United Kingdom.
1. Right here it is, the number one , the top of the pile. and it has to go to a man whose musical ability is only matched by his brilliant joke telling and weird presence. Its Bill Bailey, a man that sold out arenas around the country and is regualrly on television. His way of telling tales and mixing them with the fact he can play 27 instruments, makes him the most hot ticket in the world of comedy, so lets sit back and enjoy the best of Bill Bailey.
